Enhancing business systems and processes to improve operations, quality, and safety.

James has worked internationally for clients that include Shell in Asia, Woodside Petroleum in Australia and Saudi Aramco in the Middle East. This work included:

  • Analysing and reporting on operational activity and preparing illustrated technical presentations
  • Database administration for oil & gas operations and service companies
  • Providing support for drilling engineers and computer users
  • Administrative support for well services operations and well maintenance
  • System design and project management
  • Scheduling and planning – operations (including drilling and well maintenance)

 

  • For Shell James designed software to reduce its operating costs and to increase safety. Shell then adopted one of these systems for use by its operating companies around the world.
  • In the Timor sea James was air-lifted onto to a rig that was under tow for Woodside Petroleum. He then installed the computer systems required for the drilling operations and trained the staff when they arrived.
  • Onshore James provided the engineering computer support and training required to calculate and design the longest horizontal well in the world at that time (NRA27).
  • In the Middle East James scheduled the world's biggest fleet of drilling rigs (53 rigs for Saudi Aramco between 2001 and 2003).
